14-year-old dies of shooting injuries in District Heights, police say

A 14-year-old girl who was injured last month in a triple shooting in District Heights, Md. has died, Prince George’s County police said Monday.

Khamya Ferrell, of Suitland, was pronounced clinically deceased on Wednesday, police said. She was an unintended target of a shooting police are still working to solve, according to the department.

The shooting occurred at about 1:50 p.m. May 31 in the 6600 block of Atwood Street, police said. District Heights Police and Prince George’s County police officers found a woman and Ferrell, who police said are unrelated, with gunshot wounds inside an apartment, and a third victim, a man, wounded outside.

The woman and man suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said. No arrests have been made in the case.
