D.C.s National Christmas Tree Lighting will bring road closures. Heres where

The 101st National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will disrupt traffic Thursday in downtown Washington, where several streets will be closed for the annual event.

The ceremony will take place on the Ellipse at the White House, although entry is only allowed for those with tickets, which were distributed as part of a free lottery. The tree will be on public display from Dec. 2 to Jan. 1.

D.C. police said the following streets will be closed from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday:

• 17th Street from H Street NW to Independence Avenue SW

• 15th Street from F Street NW to Independence Avenue SW

• Madison Drive from 14th Street to 15th Street NW

• Constitution Avenue from 14th Street to 18th Street NW

• C Street from 17th Street to 18th Street NW

• D Street from 17th Street to 18th Street NW

• E Street from 17th Street to 18th Street NW
