'Drive Me Crazy' (PG-13)
|
This one is actually much sweeter than the usual teen fare, thanks to the likability of both stars. But the plot in which the girls back-stab and boys just feel lust is enough to make any thinking person want to shoot a hole in the screen. Grenier plays a sloppy, coffehouse type called Chase. Hart is Nicole, a prissy pep-rally gal. Both have grown up together as next-door neighbors and friends. Both go to the same school. Both have single parents. So you can see where this is going, right from the start. At any rate, the idea is to keep them apart for as long as possible, until that inevitable last dance. The things separating their ultimate union: both belong to different cliques. And both are involved with others: Chase has a flagging relationship with Dulcie (Ali Larter). And Nicole is hopelessly taken with a jock star (Gabriel Carpenter).
When their romantic projects fall apart, Chase agrees to dress preppie and pretend to be Nicole's boyfriend, so both can make their estranged parties jealous and hey, if you need any more information than this, it sounds like you're primed for this movie.
